Using MCP Discovery
Toolhouse now makes it effortless to integrate your agents with external services using MCP Discovery (Model Context Protocol). When you create an agent in Agent Studio, Toolhouse will automatically detect which MCP servers your agent needs, giving it the ability to interact with tools like Notion, Linear, Google Calendar, and more.
This functionality is built into Agent Studio, which means you won’t have to change the way you use it.
For example, if you tell Agent Studio that your agent should work with Google Calendar, Toolhouse will automatically connect it to the appropriate MCP server so it can view or edit calendar events.
Getting started with MCP Discovery
In this example, we’ll create an agent that reads a Notion page and creates Linear tickets from it.
Open Agent Studio
Start by writing a natural-language prompt describing what you want your agent to do.
In this case:
“Build a virtual engineering manager who reads a Notion page the user provides and creates a bunch of Linear tickets from it.”

Run the Prompt
After hitting Run, Toolhouse will analyze the agent’s needs and display a sidebar showing the recommended MCP servers (e.g., Notion and Linear in this case).

Configure MCP Servers
In the sidebar, enter any required API keys or credentials. These give your agent access to the relevant services and unlock its full capabilities. Required fields will be marked.
Publish Your Agent
Once configured, click Publish to deploy your agent. Your agent is now live and fully integrated with the MCP servers you selected—no additional configuration needed.
Enabling and disabling MCP servers
Sometimes, MCP Discovery may detect servers you don’t need. You can easily disable them by toggling the Enabled switch in the sidebar.

Use MCP discovery alongside your existing MCP servers
You can still import your favorite MCP servers and use them with the servers found by Toolhouse. To do so, simply tell Agent studio “add my MCP server” followed by the URL to the MCP server you want to use.
Your agent now has real-world superpowers: it can pull from Notion, create tickets in Linear, update Google Calendar, and more. Want to connect more services? Just describe what you want your agent to do, and Toolhouse will take care of the rest.
