Zapier MCP Integration

What is a MCP Server?

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets your AI agent safely use other apps and tools on your behalf. It acts as a connection between your agent and services like Gmail, Notion, or Google Calendar. This allows your agent to read information, create events, or manage data using only the permissions you choose.

Step 1: Open the Zapier MCP Dashboard

Visit the Zapier MCP Dashboard at: https://mcp.zapier.com/arrow-up-right

This dashboard is where you’ll create and manage your Toolhouse MCP server.

Step 2: Create a New MCP Server

  1. Click New MCP Server

  2. Select Toolhouse as the client

  3. Give your MCP server a recognizable name

This server will act as the bridge between your agent and your connected tools.

Step 3: Select Tools for Your Agent

Choose which tools your agent should be able to access. This controls which third party apps your agent can use and what it’s allowed to do within each one.

For example, you might select Google Calendar to allow your agent to read or manage calendar events.

Note: Some tools require additional authentication before they can be used. Zapier will prompt you if further setup is needed.

Step 4: Connect to Toolhouse

Once you’ve selected your tools and completed any required authentication:

  1. Click Connect to Toolhouse

  2. Copy your MCP server URL

Your MCP link will look similar to this:

You can now use this link to connect your agent to Toolhouse and start accessing your selected third party services.

Alternatively, you can copy the Add to Chatbot message provided by Zapier. This message can be pasted directly into Toolhouse Agent Studio to configure the connection automatically.

Step 5: Integrate with Toolhouse

Visit https://app.toolhouse.ai/arrow-up-right to create a new agent or add MCP capabilities to an existing one.

In this example, we’ll create a new agent that can search Google Calendar.

Create and Configure Your Agent

  1. Create a new agent in Toolhouse.

  2. Copy and paste the message generated by your Toolhouse MCP server into the agent setup.

This tells your agent where to find and how to access the connected tools.

Once the agent is created, it will default to a general purpose assistant. You can then further customize its behavior by specifying instructions in the bottom left configuration panel, defining exactly how you want the agent to use the connected tools.

Publish Your Agent

Once you click Publish, your Agent will be deployed directly into the cloud

Your AI agent can now access connected tools through Toolhouse and Zapier.
